MET GALA 2022

The met gala 2022 was held on May 2nd. The theme for part two of ‘In America: An anthology of fashion’ is Gilded glamour. The gilded age fashion included silk, velvet and satin gowns, corset tops, fur-lined coats, elbow length gloves with the colour palette which revolved around emerald green, purple, crimson, cream etc..

Let’s being with the host Blake Lively!!
Blake definitely channeled her inner Serena van der Woodsen. She looked like royalty in her copper to green Versace dress. Her magnificent corset gown was inspired by the statue of liberty. The oxidation of the statue of liberty was represented by the dress switch which went along with the gilded glamour theme since the statue did oxidize during that period. The elbow length gloves, three layered earrings and her crown complemented the outfit in the best manner. The hostess definitely stole the red carpet with her dress switch.

Kylie Jenner 
Kylie stood out in an off-white wedding dress. She paired it with a veiled cap. Kylie wore this as a tribute to her late friend Virgil Abloh, who is the founder off white. This outfit was a little contrary to Kylie’s usual glittery and glamorous gala looks. She paired the ruffled ball gown with mesh sleeves and a veiled baseball cap. Yes, it was a very chic look and the baseball cap screams America, but the look might have deviated from the theme. The ruffled gown and the corset top were definitely gilded age but the mesh sleeves, the baseball cap and the flower on it weren’t complementing the theme. The look was maybe a little gilded but not glamorous.  

Gigi Hadid 
Gigi walked the carpet in an all red Versace look. She wore a catsuit with a corset top and paired it with an extravagant quilted cape. She finished her look with a beaded necklace and a red lip. The jacket looked straight out of a royal chest of collectables. The bottom part of the gown created the illusion of a ball gown and the high collar that of a king’s cape. 

Billie Eilish
Billie looked dapper in a light green Gucci bustier dress with full lace sleeves and pretty purple flower embellishment. The bottom part of the dress was an ivory gathered skirt. She complemented her outfit with a choker and a gem necklace. The best part of the outfit is that it was made of upcycled material!!! It was very responsible of her to signify the importance being eco-friendly at such a big event. And can we please take a moment to appreciate her posses!! 

So this was my opinion on my favorite celeb looks. Can’t wait for their next red carpet appearances!!!
